CELEBRATING OVER 100 YEARS OF ROLEX.

We have decided to take a trip down memory lane, revisiting the most monumental, top 10 watches from Rolex throughout the years.

Born in Kulmbach, Germany in 1881, Hans Wilsdorf was the genius behind the company now known worldwide as Rolex, founded in 1905.

THE DAYTONA - 116520

The Cosmograph Daytona was introduced in 1963. The design was intended to meet the needs and demands of professional racing drivers; inspired by the Daytona International Speedway in America.  This watch is intrinsically linked with the world of motorsport sharing the same core principals of function and high performance.

The chronograph and bezel with a tachymetric scale allow drivers to accurately measure average speeds up to 400 kilometres or miles per hour, as they choose.

THE SUBMARINER - 116610LV

Released in 2010, the Rolex Submariner 116610LV instantaneously became a must-have addition for every watch enthusiast’s collection. Known for its vibrant colours, the Rolex Submariner Date is perfect for every occasion.

The first Submariner was introduced to the public in 1954 at the Basel World Fair, now simply known as BaselWorld. The Submariner is still a must have watch among divers and swimmers. Having been modified with new movements and a few small attractive changes including its enhanced water resistant features means that it is now waterproof to 300 metres / 1000 feet.

While Rolex enthusiasts confess to being a little disappointed when the design was first presented, the watch gradually appeared on wrists over time. The “Hulk”, as it’s known, has become much more than an average Rolex. It was to be an anniversary model and so came with a green dial design in Rolex’s signature shade. It’s now a huge fashion statement and very popular with the WatchCentre clientele.

A personal favourite at WatchCentre HQ, This piece is designed with an exacting attention to detail and a focus on legibility even in the dark; making it indeed perfect for explorers to read both night and day. As you can see, the most visually appealing feature of the Explorer II is the energetic shade of orange on the 24-hour hand and the orange Explorer II text on the dial.

The Yacht-Master is valued for its casual yet purposeful appeal. The large hour markers and broad hands remain easily readable in all situations.
