IWC's 75th Anniversary Portugieser

This year marked the launch of IWC’s new Portugieser Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month “75^th Anniversary” watch (Ref.3972).

For the occasion of its relaunch to mark the 75^th anniversary of the Portugieser models, the watch has been fitted with an arched-edge sapphire glass and Santoni alligator leather strap, along with an appealing new calibre design. The timepiece is a limited edition of 25 in platinum and 75 in 18k rose gold, with either a black or silver-plated dial. This special timepiece features an abundance of IWC watchmaking expertise; a perpetual calendar, large digital date and month display, leap year display, flyback chronograph and the 89801 calibre with its quick-action switch and efficient double-pawl winding mechanism.

The dial is combined of two analogue displays (time and chronograph) with three impressive digital ones (date, month and leap year).  The hour and minute counters are combined in one sub-dial at 12 0’clock with the small seconds sub-dial at 6 0’clock. Inside the 45mm case is a carefully finished movement composed of 474 individual parts with a solid rose gold rotor. The perpetual calendar is mechanically programmed and requires just one adjustment every 100 years. The watch also has an impressive power reserve of 68 hours.
