A very rare Grand Complications Perpetual Calendar Chronograph in platinum by Patek Philippe. Its black dial features displays of the moon phase, the date, day, month and leap year as well as featuring the three chronograph counters. To find this model with a plain black dial is extremely difficult, even more so than with a diamond dial.
An original black leather strap comes equipped with an original platinum deployant clasp. Fitted with sapphire crystal and a manual wind chronograph movement which can be admired via the exhibition case back.
In excellent condition, the watch comes complete with a Patek Philippe box, an original platinum case back, original pusher and undated papers.
Since its initial introduction in 1986 to its end in 2004, there have been 3 series of the 3970. Manufactured between 1991 and 2004, this particular piece is a 3 series model. These 3970's now came with straight shaped hands, silver, black or diamond variation dials. They also came with both the exhibition case back and a solid case back.
