September 2The Gift of Time Celebrate with WatchCentre
Celebrate your first Wedding Anniversary with WatchCentre
As we approach the end of this year’s wedding season, many of you will be sitting back and reflecting on your first happy year of marriage. As with all new marriages, there will have been obstacles to overcome, unforeseen challenges and new experiences to discover. The good news is that you’ve made it, and you’ve enjoyed your first year out of untold years to come. What better way to celebrate a wedding anniversary than with a new watch?
Some will prefer to go for a matching his and hers pair to reflect the unity of the marriage. One of the best brands for this (due to their wide choice of options) is Rolex. No matter what metal combinations or size you prefer, you can be sure to find two watches to pair up perfectly. For example, a great combination would be this Datejust II for him and this midsize 31mm Datejust for her. Both come in a mixture of stainless steel and white gold, with the iconic fluted bezel featuring prominently in both. Both come in a black dial, with the lady’s version coming on the Jubilee bracelet (which we tend to find ladies prefer) and the gent’s on an Oyster bracelet. The two sizes have a contemporary feel, with a nod to current trends, yet still retain that unmistakeable Rolex silhouette.
If buying a pair isn’t quite right for you, and you are looking for a bit of inspiration, we have some suggestions for you. For men, how about a watch that will stand the test of time, just like your marriage? We can’t recommend highly enough a Patek Philippe Calatrava, a dress watch with such purity and heritage, it will never date. The ref. 5119J carries all the classic hallmarks of a Calatrava: the minimalistic, balanced dial; the hobnail bezel; the meticulously finished hand-wound movement. This is a watch that doesn’t need to shout, this is high-end watchmaking distilled down in to one understated product.
For ladies, we always love the refined elegance of Cartier. The master jewellers always seem to sprinkle a bit of extra magic on their ladies’ models. Whilst most will be familiar with Cartier’s Tank, Panthere and Santos ranges, they also do some more unusual shapes to help stand out from the crowd. The Baignoire takes an oval shape, and infuses it with Cartier’s unmistakeable DNA. The dial pulls you in with its metallic finish, and you would be hard pressed to find another bracelet quite as beautifully designed. Like the Patek Philippe, heritage is at the core of the Baignoire, with the model being traced back all the way back to 1912.
