F.Rotig Havre 18ct Rose Gold and Enamel Keyless Quarter Repeating Calendar Open face Pocket watch with Compass and Thermometer C1880.

Dial: A beautiful white enamel dial Roman numerals outer minute ring with three subsidiary dials for date, month and seconds. The recessed aperture for the compass and mercury Fahrenheit thermometer. All original rose gold hands

Case: A Fine 18ct Rose Gold case with engine turned case to the rear centered by elaborate gold and enamel background, a white enamel banner beneath incribed in red  'Ameeroodeen Tyabjee' green enamel leaves hanging from a banner, a yellow enamel crescent moon & star above. The whole flanked by two lions rampant. The milled bezels with repeating slideto band. The polished inner cuvette engraved F. Rotig Chronometer maker, Havre and numbered (This was the French port of Le Havre)  

Movement: The highest quality damascened nickel finished movement  lever escapement, fully jewelled to the centre arbour, bi-metallic compensation balance, blued steel overcoil hairspring with woolf's tooth winding signed F. Rotig

This is an exceptional rare and important watch which belonged to the Amiruddin Tyabji Family and with the complications which it has. It would make a faboulous addition to one's collection.

F.Rötig was a watch and chronometer maker based in Le Havre. He advertised his watches with the title "Constructeur de Chronomètres" and "Inventeur". He was also "Horloger de la Marine" in Le Havre
