George Oram & Son. A Rare Half Quarter Repeater Heavy Gold Keyless Lever Full Hunter Pocket Watch C1879.

Dial: The white enamel dial with Roman numerals outer minute track with subsidiary seconds dial at six o'clock. The original blued steel spade hands and gilt seconds hand.

Case: The heavy (122grm) 18ct yellow gold hunter case with the family crest of the Scottish Gordan Clan with the motto Bydand meaning stay and fight or ''Stand your ground'' to the front cover of the case. The back cover is plain. The inner cover has a presentation inscription dated Jan 30th 1880. The cases are all hallmarked and numbered with the case maker being George Ball.

Movement: The English made full three quarter plate movement, fully jeweled keyless lever with compensation balance, diamond end stone and fast slow regulation. The watch is rare as it chimes the hours, quarters and half quarters..

This watch is a fine example of English watchmaking at it's best. The fact that the crest on this watch is associated with one of the strongest clans in Scotland makes for an interesting provenance and It would make an excellent addition to one's collection.
