Patek Philippe. A Rare and Important Regulator Dial Split Second Chronograph Pocket Watch C1878.

Dial: The white enamel dial fully signed Patek Philippe & Cie Geneve and numbered with an outer minute track with five minute intervals in red Arabic numbers and a single blued steel minute hand. The subsidiary dial at three o' clock with Roman hour numerals and a single blued steel hour hand. The subsidiary seconds dial at nine o'clock with blued steel seconds hand. The split seconds hands in blued steel.

Case: The heavy 18ct rose gold open face case with plain back opening to show the inner case back signed and numbered. The case has a five knuckle hinge and the split second is operated by the button in the winder and the secondary split by the button on the side of the case at twelve o'clock.

Movement: The superb fully jewelled nickel finished gold train movement with exposed chronograph mechanism, compensation balance and fast slow regulation. The movement is an excellent example of Patek Philippe's finest craftsmanship.

This is a rare and important pocket watch as very few regulator dials with split seconds were produced by Patek. This watch also has it's original wooden box together with an Extract of Archive from Patek Philippe showing that the watch was sold in September 1878.
