Peter Desmarais, St Martins Court, Leister Square. An 18ct rose gold pair case, key wind cylinder pocket watch, London, C1803.

Dial: A beautiful original fully signed and numbered white enamel dial, with offset Roman numeral hour markers, black outer minute track and 1/5th second divisions, the original gold hands with original centre second hand.The dial has no Hair Line Cracks

Case: The 18ct rose gold pair case with polished inner and outer cases hallmarked for London 1803, the case maker stamped I.W who was John Wills recorded as working from St John's Lane Smithfield

Movement: The gilt full plate cylinder escapement, pierced and engraved balance cock, with diamond end stone, silver regulation dial with an original dust cover fully signed and numbered. The watch has a early stop mechanism which would have been known as a doctor's watch.

Peter Desmarais is recorded as working from 1794 to the early 19th Century in London. Leister Square was later to become Leicester Square. The watch is a fine example of early nineteenth century English watchmaking at it's finest as this example is in such original pristine condition.
