Klaftenberger. A Rare Miniature 18ct Gold Hunter Quarter Repeater Pocket Watch C1871.

Dial: The perfect white enamel dial fully signed Klaftenberger London, with Roman numerals outer minute track and subsidiary seconds dial at six o'clock. The original blued steel hands with matching seconds hand.

Case: The heavy 18ct gold case with a beautiful blued enamel inlaind monogram with a crown above the monogram also inlaid with blue enamel. The back cover is plain as is the inner cover. The cases are all English Hallmarked and dated at 1871. The case is made by Alfred Stram, one of the finest English pocket watch case makers of his time. The repeater slide is at the side of the case.

Movement: The fully jewelled fine three quarter plate movement, with compensation balance, Breguet overcoil hairspring and fast slow regulation, numbered and signed Klaftenberger maker to the Queen. The hammers and gongs are visible in the movement.

Klaftenberger was held in high esteem by Prince Albert and Queen Victoria and received regular orders for the supplies of clocks and watches to be presented as gifts. The company was also a contributor to the horological section of 'the Great Exhibition, ' where they received an honorable mention. This watch is rare because of it's size. It would make a fine addition to one's collection.
