William Rogers Liverpool. A Rare Heavy Gold Keywind Quarter Repeater Calendar Pocket Watch C1862.

Dial: The perfect original white enamel dial with Roman numerals outer minute track with subsidiary dial for the date at twelve o' clock. The day subsidiary dial at three o' clock. The month subsidiary dial at nine o' clock and the large seconds subsidiary at six o'clock. The hands are all original for this watch and made of blued steel.

Case: The heavy English (136grms) hallmarked 18ct gold case with plain back opening to to reveal the the inner cover with two winding holes surrounded by floral engravings. The case maker was George Roberts of Liverpool, with the case bearing Chester Hallmarks.

Movement: The exquisite fully jewelled keywind lever movement with compensation balance with diamond endstone, blued steel hairspring, two raised barrels which are both florally engraved. The backplate is signed William Rogers Liverpool and numbered. The quality of this movement is amazing, considering William Rogers was about 20 years old when he made this watch. The other rare feature of this movement is that the speed of the repeating mechanism can be adjusted by a lever on the back plate.

This Pocket Watch is a fine example of English craftsmanship being for it's time very advanced considering that it has quarter repeating and calendar mechanism for 1862. This watch is rare and it would make a fine addition to one's collection
