A Lange & Sohne Perpetual Calendar Terraluna, a sophisticated unique and remarkable piece. This is one of the most impressive watches to come out in 2014. The large 45.5mm diameter face consists of three dials - the large minute dial dominates at the top, whilst the bottom right dial counts hours and the bottom left counts seconds. It addition it has a perpetual calendar, a 14-day power reserve, a constant force escapement and a graphic orbital moonphase complication right on the plate of the movement.
Although the watch is big, there is no undermining the clarity and emphasis on the busy dials with the piercing blue hands. Of course one cannot overlook the impressive calibre L096 as it displays the mechanics and with an extra special touch there is also a stunning moon phase display. Here the balance wheel represents the sun and three other discs which represent the earth, sky and moon. Remarkably, the sun and moon discs rotate in opposite direction, which gives an indication of the alignment of the earth, moon and sun. It’s therefore no wonder this is the Number #1 watch of 2014!
